Treasure Valley YOUNG ARTISTS
Open by audition to children ages 6 through 18, the Choirs perform two concerts annually, singing a variety of styles with emphasis on proper vocal production, musical understanding, and technical excellence.
"Linda Walker is like a modern-day Mary Poppins, making the music so fun, exciting and entertaining while still teaching with strict, professional standards – giving students so much more than just music!"
--Kamber Bishop, Parent
This highly acclaimed organization has performed for both Idaho and Oregon ACDA and MENC conventions, for three Northwest Division ACDA Conventions, and for the 2005 National ACDA Convention.
“I love to watch Mrs. Walker teach and coach her students, not only to be better singers, but to be more disciplined, dignified, confident, and compassionate people. She has taught me that 'children can learn anything you can teach them,’ and it is a joy to see how they blossom under her hand." --Teresa Baker
LINDA H. WALKER, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Artistic Director of Treasure Valley Young Artists since its inception, Linda served as an adjunct music faculty member at TVCC for 17 years, teaching private voice and conducting the Cantare Singers, a select Women’s Chorus. She also served for 15 years as vocal coach for Treasure Valley Chorale and Vocal Express.
In 1988 she combined her love of music and her love for youth when she and her husband founded and directed both the Treasure Valley Children’s Chorus in Ontario, Oregon, and Treasure Valley Young Artists, in Nampa, Idaho, teaching two hundred and fifty children each week from towns in Eastern Oregon and Western Idaho.
Linda's love of her students and commitment to their success are evidenced in the many accomplishments of her groups and the enthusiasm of the participants. Her choirs have garnered numerous awards and accolades, and have performed for state, regional, and national conventions of both the American Choral Directors Association and Music Educators National Conference.
“I love children and I love music! Combining the two makes for exciting and joyous experiences!
I love to help children grow in self-confidence and poise as they develop their musical skills, and I thrill to see them discover that they can create beauty, and that they can use the gift of music to bless the lives of others.”

MELISSA MILLWARD, EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
Melissa has been blessed with a love for music all her life. She participated in High School band, has sung in many church choirs, and has enjoyed performing as a member of Musettes and Una Voce. She also plays the piano.
Her many important “behind the scenes” responsibilities include: assisting with auditions, rehearsals and performances, coordinating choir uniforms, and producing program design layout.
She is married to Dwayne and is the proud mother of four beautiful children, three daughters (who sing in Young Artists) and a wonderful son.
“I have had the opportunity to associate and work with Linda Walker for many years. Not only does she teach music to the members of her choirs, she also teaches love, discipline and many important life-lessons. It has been a great pleasure to watch her shape the lives of my own daughters as well as many other children. Linda has the ability to instruct and lift those she teaches. She is fun, loving and nurturing all while elevating the expectation of the young people in her choirs. In doing so, she helps them produce harmonies and tones not normally heard in such young singers.
I will be forever grateful my children have had the blessing of being instructed by such a wonderful and talented lady. As my daughter put it, ‘She’s pretty much the best!’ ” -- Melissa Millward, Executive Assistant
