Beginning singers, ages 6 through 8, enter the program through this choir where they are taught correct discipline and rehearsal skills; basic ear-training and sight-singing; correct breathing and posture; and correct vocal placement and tone production.
The emphasis at this level is preparatory training, therefore all training culminates in two performances: the annual Christmas Concert, and the Spring Award’s Concert.
This is the entry-level choir for singers ages 9 through 12, and the choir into which Apprentice Choir members are promoted when they demonstrate sufficient maturity and vocal readiness.
Training now continues in ear accuracy, sight-reading skills, correct vocal tone, vocal independence while part-singing, and the development of performance technique.
Advanced Choir participates in a minimum of two major performances per season.
Singers are eligible to audition for Concert Choir when they demonstrate a high level of vocal skill and independence. Training now focuses on comprehensive musicianship. Repertoire is expanded to include music of many styles with much more difficult harmonies and rhythms.
In addition to performing in two major concerts per season, this choir accepts invitations to perform with other musical organizations, and for music festivals, conventions, and competitions.
Selected singers from within Concert Choir, who have proven their loyalty and value to the choir in both rehearsal and performance settings, are selected for this special ensemble.
A Premier Singer epitomizes the highly trained and dedicated Chorus member. Premier Singers are required to learn and perform a sophisticated and difficult performance repertoire including songs in foreign languages. This ensemble tours regularly, performing for a variety of festivals, competitions, and other prestigious events.
Members of Premier Singers also serve as mentors for younger singers.
